Joe Louis How To Box - Book
Joseph Louis Barrow, professionally known as Joe Louis, was a professional boxer for 17 years from 1934 to 1951. He reigned as the heavyweight champion from 1937 to 1949. He successfully defended his title 25 times, more than any other champion in any division.
Louis first began fighting in Detroit, Michigan where he won the U.S. Amateur Athletic Union 175-pound Championship in 1934. Out of the 54 amateur fights he competed in, he only lost 4. His first professional fight took place on July 4, 1934 and in less than a year he had defeated former heavyweight champion, Primo Carnera.
In 1948, Louis wrote this book to explain the techniques he successfully used in his boxing career. The book includes diagrams, and action photographs and goes over proper stance and footwork, having the correct mental attitude, basic training, rules, and equipment.
