Ain’t Misbehavin Sheet Music 1929
“Ain’t Misbehavin” was written in 1929 by Andy Razaf and has been performed many times by many different artists. The song was initially written to accompany the Broadway Musical Connie’s Hot Chocolates where Paul Bass and Margaret Simms became the first to perform it. Perhaps the most notable performance, however, was done by Thomas Wright “Fats” Wallers. Wallers was an American jazz pianist, composer, violinist, singer, and comedic entertainer. His recording of the song was used in the 1943 movie Stormy Weather and went on to receive the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1984. In 2004 hIs version was also included in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. Some additional artists who have recorded a version of the piece include Ella Fitzgerald, Sam Cooke, and Nat King Cole among many others. The song includes early swing and stride jazz influences.
