1992 Carol Mosley Braun - US Senate Poster

Carol Mosley Braun was born on August 16th, 1947 in Chicago Illinois. After graduating from high school Braun earned a B.A in political science from The University of Illinois in 1969. In 1972 she graduated from the University of Chicago School of Law. Braun went on to hold numerous positions in local and national government. Some of her most notable accomplishments include becoming the first female African American mayor of Chicago, representing Illinois in the house of representatives, and becoming the first female African American senator. During her time in office she advocated for civil rights, legislation on crime, education, and families.
