- Slavery (1619 - 1863)

- Post-Reconstruction (1878-1954)
- Civil Rights Era (1954-1968)
- Post Civil Rights (1973-1978)
- Materials related to the NAACP, SNCC, The Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party
- Pre-1968 items including buttons, press photos, meeting agendas, conference programs, chapter pictures, newspaper coverage including articles and photos, membership cards, membership and recruitment information, event posters.
- Materials relating to the Civil Rights Movement
- With the focus on local events, sit-ins, protests, event flyers and programs, newspaper coverage, press photos. Membership cards, recruitment posters.
- Materials relating to HBCU's
- Pre-1970 items including yearbooks, sweaters, Graduation Announcement, Campus Organization Flyers, Activisim on Campus, Campus Newspapers, Campus Homecoming Queens, Athletic Programs, Press Photos, Newspapers relating to the chartering of institutions.
- Material relating to the early years of Tuskeegee, Howard, Bethune-Cookman, Morehouse, Spelman
- Materials related to Local Political Campaigns
- Pre-1970 items including campaign posters, pamphlets, buttons and signed letters.
- Anti-black campaign literature by politically parties and candidates.
- Materials related to Sororities and Fraternities
- Pre-1970 items including Chapter photos (including line, step show and formal photos), hand carved paddles, individual initiation information (including membership certificates and cards, jackets and sweaters), Conference booklets and regional reports and Press Photos.
- Materials related to enlisted men and women pre-1968 including pictures, letters and recruitement posters
- Vintage African-American magazines pre-1975 (Ebony, Jet, The Crisis, HEP, Tan, Color, etc)
